Bikita Seed Fair tenth edition kicks off today

BIKITA, ZIMBABWE – The tenth edition of the Bikita Seed Fair begins today. This is a three-day community gathering that is taking place in Bikita in Zimbabwe’s Masvingo province.

The event, which has grown into a key fixture on the local agroecological calendar, is being supported by the Earthlore Foundation and has drawn participants from Zimbabwe and South Africa.

This year’s programme is a celebration of indigenous seed varieties by local communities, alongside a practical learning exchange focused on water-harvesting techniques. The fair will conclude with a Jaka ceremony, a cultural rite that is centred on threshing and winnowing
