In the heart of Chipinge, a vibrant community of artists is working tirelessly to bring music and culture to life.
Despite their passion and dedication, these talented individuals feel overlooked by the very people they’re trying to entertain – their own locals. The artists believe their music, which showcases the rich heritage and traditions of Chipinge, is being overshadowed by more popular artists from bigger cities.
“We pour our hearts and souls into our music, but it seems like no one is listening,” says gospel artist Caleb Simango, echoing the sentiments of many local musicians.

“We feel like we’re being ignored by our own people, and it’s disheartening,” added.
This lack of recognition is not only demotivating but also hinders their ability to take their music to greater heights.
The artists firmly believe that if the community were to support them, they could produce more music, collaborate with other artists, and even showcase their talents beyond Chipinge.
“Charity begins at home,” says Solomon Sigauke, another talented artist. “If our own people don’t support us, how can we expect others to? We need our community to believe in us and our music.”
Some community members, however, feel that local artists have become too proud, rating themselves higher and refusing to perform at local events that could boost their publicity.
“Chipinge has got talent, but the challenge is our local artists are rating themselves higher and don’t want to perform at local events, yet it assists in increasing their publicity,” says Tinotenda Maposa.
Despite these challenges, Chipinge has produced many talented artists who are now topping national radios, including, Notable artistes include: Bonny T, a renowned musician known for his captivating performances, Cloris Machuwaire, a talented artist with a unique voice, DK Dhabulos, the mastermind behind the hit song “Sabhuku iJongwe and Ros Boi, a rising star in the music industry.
