Herentals Chipinge introduces a new home away from home

BY EDUCATION REPORTER

In a significant first for the esteemed Herentals Group of Schools and Colleges, its Chipinge campus is opening a brand-new boarding facility starting First Term 2026. This pioneering move marks a milestone, establishing Chipinge campus as the first within the Herentals Group of Schools and Colleges to offer a residential haven for its students.

The introduction of boarding is already generating considerable excitement within the school community. A supervisor at the learning institution confirmed that morale is high, noting a wave of positive feedback from both students and their families.

“We are the first campus to open a boarding facility in the Herentals Group of Schools and Colleges in Zimbabwe. This move has excited both our students and their parents and guardians,” the supervisor said.

The primary motivation behind this strategic development is to resolve the challenge of long-distance travel. Previously, students from remote areas had to find their own accommodation in lodgings scattered around the town, a situation that often caused concern for their safety and wellbeing.

“The new boarding house has been designed specifically to address this, providing a secure and structured living environment with unlimited wifi.

“The move is aimed at easing travelling for some students who come from distant places, who had resorted to lodging in various spaces around the school,” the supervisor explained. “Now, we are offering them a safe home away from home, alongside a superior education,” she said.

By integrating comfortable living quarters with the group’s renowned academic programme, the campus now offers a holistic solution for parents seeking the best for their children. This ensures that students can dedicate more time and energy to their studies, free from the strain of a long daily commute or the uncertainties of private lodging.

The school has announced that registration for both tuition and boarding is currently in progress. To secure a place, secondary school learners are required to pay a registration fee of $10. Following this, termly fees are set at $135 for day scholars, while boarders will pay $350 per term, which encompasses their accommodation, meals, and academic provision.

This landmark development at Herentals Chipinge represents more than just a new building; it is a commitment to nurturing students in a safe, supportive, and focused community, making a quality education more accessible than ever before.
