REPSSI advances inclusivity in Chipinge

CHIPINGE: A non-profit organisation, Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative (REPSSI), continues to make waves in development circles with its commitment to disability inclusion.
On April 14, REPSSI handed over an inclusive ablution facility to Chitepo Primary School in Chipinge, one of many such units constructed for health and educational institutions in the district.
This initiative is part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to advance inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.

REPSSI’s Inclusive Communities Project, funded by CBM Global and Irish Aid that ran from October 2021 to April 2024, aimed at raising awareness, build capacity, and provide psychosocial support to individuals and caregivers in Chipinge and Chimanimani districts.
Currently, REPSSI is implementing the EQuaLISED project, which focuses on enhancing the rights, inclusion, and resilience of persons with disabilities and their families in Zimbabwe.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony at Chitepo, Chipinge District Development Coordinator, Mr William Mashava, who was represented by an administrative assistant, Mr Chamunorwa Salani thanked REPSSI for unselfish implementation of its projects.
“Many organisations tend to avoid remote parts of the district in preference of those near highways and those already developed. REPSSI has been working wholeheartedly in the remotest wards of our district and bringing the much needed development,” he said.

REPSSI Zimbabwe’s Country Director, Mrs Sibusisiwe Marunda, was present at the handover ceremony, signifying the organisation’s commitment to creating equalised communities.
