Skills Amplification Programme heads for rural Dumisayi

A new initiative aimed at empowering young people has arrived in the rural area of Dumisayi in Chipinge. The Skills Amplification Programme (SAP) will begin its work in December 2025 following official approval from local Headman Tinashe Dumisayi.

The programme’s Executive Director, Irene Mlambo, explained its comprehensive goal.

“The Skills Amplification Programme is dedicated to empowering underserved youth in the rural communities of Chipinge. We tackle the interconnected challenges of unemployment, social exclusion, and poverty through a holistic model built on three core pillars of Skills Development, Inclusivity, and Livelihood Projects,” she said.

She emphasised the broader community impact.

“By providing market-relevant professional training, fostering a fully inclusive environment, and supporting sustainable small businesses, SAP enables self-reliance and builds stronger, more resilient communities,” added Mlambo.

In Dumisayi, SAP is collaborating with the Chimanimani-based Inclusive Global Media (IGM) and Chipinge’s Vivid Arts Initiative (VAI) to deliver a specialised training course. From 11 to 14 December 2025, local youth will receive instruction in television and film production, applying their new skills to create a short movie titled Mphungura 1.

SAP will oversee the project, with IGM providing technical filming expertise and VAI leading the acting workshops. This partnership marks a significant step in bringing creative industry skills and opportunities to a rural community.
